Onstar remote link app upgrade ....

The new design takes an extra step to get to the remote start tab. It also no longer has a pop up message that says "your vehicle is now running." All I get now is a very hard to read gray colored "success" message in a tiny font. Neither of these are huge issues, but if I were designing the app I sure wouldn't have made the confirmation message gray on white, and the tiniest font possible. The confirmation message is key to the remote start portion of the app. I always wonder who thinks these things through, and how changes like this make it to market.

Having done it for almost 18 years, for a company you use and software I can almost bet you use, I can tell you, rarely are things done without user experience testing, hours of discussion and usability testing of prototypes. All that being said, that does not mean it comes out making every or even most people happy, just those that participated and were making decisions. These decisions come right down to things like color, font size, pixel position on the screen, etc.

for the dozen times I use it to remote start my truck a year, the new design really doesn't bother me.

I just traded my 2014 on a 2015. I find the app to be significantly faster on the new truck. That said, my opinion is that it's because the onstar in the 2014 was 2g and in the 2015 it's LTE.

Anyone ever think of the liability of onstar app remote start while your vehicle is being serviced?

I wonder if the dealers account for this in some way. All it takes is one disgruntled GM owner and someone could be seriously hurt.

The vehicle cannot be remote

started if:

. The key is in the ignition.

. The hood is not closed.

. There is an emission control

system malfunction and the

malfunction indicator lamp is on.

My Remotelink App will not display any Key FOB commands. When I select Key Fob "Vehicle Commands" option it only shows a blank white screen and in the middle of that screen it says "Silverado Doublecab". The "Silverado Doublecab" is the name for my 2014 Silverado Doublecab which is recognized in the App. That's it. I called Onstar and they told me that Onstar was having technical difficulties with that particular feature but that was 2 days ago and I still have this issue. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the response. I uninstalled and reinstalled it twice which didn't do anything for me. I fixed it late last night though. The way I fixed it is by downloading and installing the MyChevy App...that App apparently links to the RemoteLink App. The first time trying it didn't work but when I tried it a second time...the KeyFob commands showed up for me and I was able to start & stop the truck, + I locked, and unlock the doors. I should have mentioned in my initial post that I had done the uninstall/reinstall routine.
