rocnrol Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 I see there is a few topics on this, but over all, information form GM on what's going to happen has been vauge to this point. the one question I have is, in the upgrade, whatever it may be, will the internet hot spot be a part of that?
Isriam Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 this would be by far the worst upgrade you could do cost wise. buy a used 4g cell phone that is unlocked and put it on cricket, 2.5gb, 5gb, 10gb, or 20gb plan, and use it as a tether device. Hell even hide it in the center console plugged in 24/7. thats what i'd do if i wanted a "smart" truck.
redwngr Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 If you want the onstar to function for tracking, 911 calls etc it will be necessary to get the upgrade. Once the 2g cell towers are down (and they are already someplaces in Ontario) Onstar is dead until the hardware is upgraded.
Speed4tu Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Who uses OnStar anyway? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
TJay74 Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 While you may not use Onstar, if you use the Onstar app you will lose that once the system loses communication.
AaronIROCZ Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 I use OnStar every day!! I love that app!!
