Wheel bearing installation question

815.26, not including the tools I got as well... I figure it's all going to go bad following the first ball joing to go, and I'd rather do it all at once and save in the long run on getting an alignment done in several phases. Suspension was all MOOG "problem solver" parts, grease fittings on the ball joints, ect. free two day shipping for most of it through amazon. Bearings were around 110 each.

Where were you able to find MOOG problem solver lower control arms? I have not been able to find them...maybe just my model that is hard to find. I'm with you, I'm looking to do the same thing on my truck. Just replace it all at once now with quality parts, and avoid the downtime caused by a failure down the road.

Thanks for all the advice... headache after headache and all I accomplished this weekend was the upper and lower control arms... truck rides like it's New again though without the annoying bushing squeak. Bearings will have to wait until the snow melts now but they're not in bad shape so it's not a big deal.

I got all of my parts on Amazon for cheaper than most places online with free 2 day shipping w/prime membership... they had everything, bearings, control arms, inner and outer tie rods, and all the tools I needed

I got most of the parts to rebuild the front end on my son's S10 from Amazon, all Moog parts. I priced compared between Amazon and Rock Auto, most of the time they were real close in price but being an Amazon Prime customer the two day "free" shipping was more competitive than Rock Auto. My local nonchain auto parts store has gotten the message from Amazon. Last couple of things I needed that I could not wait for from Amazon, I called the local store and the prices were pretty close.

And I try to do most of my tools shopping at Amazon as well. Got a really nice SK 3/8" flex head ratchet on my last tool purchase from Amazon.

I just looked up 8 parts for my truck. $428 on Amazon, and $430 on Rockauto. I'm impressed that they are that close. Looks like free 2 day shipping wins this battle! Although the fine print said some of these items will ship in 1 to 2 MONTHS!!!

Yea I hate when they say that. They're usually pretty good about it though. Mine were instantaneous although only one or two said there was a few day wait.

Hey guys, I recently bought an entire new MOOG front end (upper and lower control arms, inner and outer tie rods), as well as 2 timken wheel bearings. My question is do I need to somehow grease the bearings prior to installing them? They came pre assembled and I see no way of greasing them but I figured I'd ask and see what people have to say.

They are 'supposed' to be fully greased, however, one person on this site has shown that they don't come with much grease in them from the factory. He showed a way to remove the ABS sensor and inject more grease. I haven't tried this method myself, but will look into it in a month or so.

To remove them from the knuckle, just a quick burst with an air chisel is usually all it takes when they're rusted. I then give all mating surfaces a liberal coating of anti seize to make it easier next time.
