One of my favorite albums, from one of the greatest bands ever, (in my opinion) turned 30.

They are re-releasing it in SACD format....Looks like I have to buy it again.

Anyone ever listen to this, and watch the Wizard of Oz? Freaky.

I agree! :thumb: I like alot of modern music, but I don't think anyone has the talent to make productions like this anymore.

Not that I've heard anyway.

Count me in as another (closet) Floyd fanatic. "echoes" off of meddle is the one of their best imo. Dark side was my first CD I ever purchased. Still have it. Still listen to it. As I tick away the moments that make up a dull day.

Because this one is an "SACD", it's in DD 5.1 surround.

Just like the Pink Floyd laser shows, and concerts.

HUGE improvement in sound quality over regular CDs.

Wingnut, refresh my memory, the SACD plays thru your DVD player and is outputting via 5 discrete analog channels right? The 5 composite cables (R,L,C,RR,LR) input into your DD receiver then I think. Is this right? Or is the SACD outputted via optical? If the former is correct I need to look at upgrading my "old" DVD player!!

As for the Wizard of Oz thing....don't know if you know it or not, but if you have the cd player on REPEAT the parts that didn't match up the firt time through tend to match up the second time through.

SACD is an entirely different format than DVD, or CD.

Most of the newer mid to high price DVD players will play them in SACD format. (they are dual layered, and will play in a normal CD player as well...But will only be played like a normal CD.)

You can also buy a dedicated CD player that reads SACDs.

You would have to look at your DVD player to see if it will play them. My guess is that if it's older than about a year...It wont play them, except as a regular CD. No "super audio", or 5.1 sound.

These things are as big an improvement in sound from a CD....Well.....It's like the step up in quality that a CD was from a tape. It's that much better.

Yeah, but not nearly as well as the first.

PINK FLOYD ROCKS!! I love Dark Side and The Wall. David Gilmore is one of the best guitar players around.

On a side note, Roger Waters did a concert and it took 3 guitar players to equal one David Gilmore. IMO..they didn't really do that great a job. Roger Waters was awesome though, he still has it. :thumb:
