Question about a Blackbear tune

Okay so I don't know why but I was afraid to tune my truck until it was paid for. I read a ton before, and I have read a ton now, on here and on the blackbear website. I just don't understand how it works. Can someone explain how it works? And do I have to be technology savvy to run it? thanks...

Have you checked out their website?

There are different ways to have your truck tuned, an in person being the easiest for non tech savvy people.

I just want to know if I am reading too much. I am reading about crank relearns and stuff, and I am just confused. I thought tunes were just plug and play, and it seems like some are, but I like to have the best, and blackbear seems to be the best.

Crank relearn is of you swap computers or somehow the computer loses sync. Rare from a normal tune, but black bear will give you the software to do the relearn if necessary

Yes have, I have. I have even emailed with Justin about a basic tune. He was very nice, I just didn't want to bother him with these stupid questions. I figured this was the place to ask them.

And as for an in person tune, I would love to. I chickened out a couple years ago when he came to Massachusetts... I see he is coming to Jersey in the spring. That is a bit of a ride for me. Hopefully he comes a little more north after that

I have done both an in person and email version. I have an autocal and it can be tricky but there are instructions on their site once your purchase. I have loaded and unloaded tunes a few times here and there. Soon to be updating the Camaro tune due to headers

My recommendation is go for the autocal

I guess I have two questions. 1- An Autocal basically works by me plugging it into my truck, driving around with it for 2 weeks then emailing the data to you guys. Then Justin sends back the tune, and I plug the autocal back in and it tunes it?

2- Are there any plans to come to new england in the near furture? I see the dates on the website for PA and NJ. I would like to wit for little more north if it might happen.

The datalog typically only needs to be ~20 mins of varied driving (ie. city, HWY, WOT).

The process is this:

-AutoCal is shipped to you

-you configure the AutoCal for your vehicle and collect a datalog as well as stock tune

-you email the datalog and stock tune to BBP

-BBP will review datalog and let you know if anything is needed or if there are glaring mechanical issues

-BBP will then build your tune and email your tune files to you

-you will load the tune files to your AutoCal

-you will use the AutoCal to flash the tune to your vehicle

-you will collect another datalog and email to BBP

-BBP will review the datalog to make sure all looks good

As of right now, doesn't look like he has a ton of interest any further north of NJ and PA.

Looking to get a tune for my 2015 Silverado, any chance they are coming to Wv any time soon I'm sure they would have lines crazy long with all the trucks I see running around here.
