Sweet truck man!, have you ever thought of putting a black exhaust tip? i got one on mine and i think it would look sick on yours. is your truck the 5.3 or 6.2?

Thanks, I do plan on it. I just can't make up my mind on the style. Mine is a 5.3l.

Absolutely fantastic. I'm workington getting rid of all the chrome myself. Very difficult. I need to do mirror caps and handles, but can't find any at a reasonable price.

I love this build - I want to do my headlights like this so bad - but it looks extremely difficult...

Such a clean truck. I love what you've done here.

Thanks, my headlights will probably be for sale when the new ones come out.

Installed some 80w Cree LED fog lights. The fit wasn't very good and I had to cut some little tabs off to make them fit. I think they're sealed good now.

Just an update for anyone with the same rattle as me, it was most noticeable when closing my drivers door. I had some time to take the door panel off today (really easy, I don't see why everyone makes a huge deal out of the window trim clips) and inside the panel I found that my door lock had popped out of the rubber holder. I drilled some holes in the holder and zip tied it so that it couldn't come out again.

my original level was an eBay set of blocks. I kept it for about a week and sold it. Ended up ordering rancho quicklifta for the front and 9000xl's for the rear.

Really nice truck. I wanted the all terrain but GM quit offering it in the summit white for 2015 so I ended up with a z71 4x4 slt. Really wanted the interior of the all terrain, but was dead set on the summit white. In your opinion whats the build quality like on the RC control arms?, I was looking at the fabtech but would like to avoid the maintenance requirements of a uniball. Spurshot on here got rid of his RC arms because of the same issue of them rubbing the frame said he couldn't get them to work even after some major grinding.

thanks, the arms are decent quality. I saw that spurshot had issues and my guess is that he had the wrong part numbers. He has factory steel suspension and I have factory aluminum suspenion also so that could play into it. I'm pretty sure when he bought his they only had part numbers for up to 2013. Once I got my alignment done after I probably didn't need to grind anything and the amount I did grind off was minimal. Maybe a mm or two of metal. The alignment pulled my arms out a bit. I'd say try them. I too didn't want uniballs and I'm happy with the rc arms.

Thanks. I think I'm going to give them a shot. Did they improve the ride or just eliminate the bump stop contact?

There wasn't a huge difference other than piece of mind, thudding over speed bumps is still there just not as loud. It's caused by the quicklifts having too high of a spring rate I'm thinking.

I added 1" rear blocks. This gave my truck 1.5" of rake from the fender measurements. Cab measurements are now dead level.gallery_140298_3351_1643997.jpg

Thanks! If I had that nice trailer of yours I wouldn't have time or money to invest in my truck either!

    • Common Sense Assembly   Your driveline is forgiving of the occasional mistake. It will even often forgive the random serious blunder. But it will not forgive a continuous bad habit.      What? Not everything needs to be a five thousand word essay.
    • We drove about 15 minute east today to visit a friend and saw a steep increase in price in the same county. About 50 cents a gallon steepper.
    • Sure about that? A degree wheel and a dial indicator would lower your degree of assurance in that statement. 😉    It why we have offset keys and dialable timing sprockets. Just say'n.... I've built a few and have never seen one "On the money".
    • I will admit I haven't experimented much with pressure drops beyond the numbers I put in and part of that is that the numbers I used are fairly low and then found out it would trigger regardless at that 35 psi. Having said that I had tried before had changed the placard pressures and being that I have a 1 ton set to 80 on the placard for the rear I believe it triggered close to 60, the front I don't recall now for sure but thought maybe it could get close to 45 from that factory 60 placard pressure. So I never did figure out if it was a number of psi from placard pressure to the alarm or a percentage of the total placard number as some figured it was like a 25% drop from placard pressure would trigger it. So as to try and answer your question, I believe I set the placard pressure on the front to 47 or so and while I run the front tires at 40, they have dipped below that some if its colder and I haven't put "winter air" in yet and never once have had the front alarm go off. I would say that the answer your looking for is no, that if you set your placard pressure to 45, you have a certain amount of room to drop below that pressure before the alarm will go off.    The pressures you decide to run in your truck, that ends up being what makes sense to you based on what your carrying in your truck or if towing, then have to bump them back up to something that will carry the load in the rear and the fronts typically left at the same pressure. It all comes down to that chart I put the link to and using an accurate roadside scale to be your guide, both unloaded and then loaded to know your minimum safe pressures.    I just wish GM would allow a person to change the readings for the tire pressures to the English system of pounds as I have to look at that goofy metric reading that will never ever jive in my head and will go over and change it just to figure out what they are if need be and then change it back.
    • That part I understand, that the dealer can do it. But I'm not understanding why updates that were available to the truck since it left the factory, or the dealership originally, would not still be available to it without dealer intervention.   I'm thinking along the lines of recalls. They stay available until they are completed, regardless of whether they are in warranty or not, or in the hands of the original owner or not. Why not updates as well, especially since some of those can be safety related also?
