Nothing drastic yet, but I've done a couple things according to my budget so far. This is my truck when I bought it. 2014 sierra SLT All Terrain.fO2rGNo.jpg

Mod #1 Jones turbine 3030xl

Mod #2 Tonnomax low profile roll up tonneau cover

Mod #3 Foam to steering column to prevent key fob smacking.

Mod #4 Replace chrome gas door with body colored door. I ordered one off ebay and it turns out it was for a long box, short box gas doors have a fold in them. I used my good old hands to bend it into shape and it looks factory. Chrome door is for sale in buy/sell.

Mod #5 Installed some white led lights for foot lamps connected to the dome lights.

Levelling kit and HID's are going in this week.

Ps, mods I created a different build thread but then I changed my username and I was not able to modify my old title. Please delete the old one.

Installed my 1.5" level blocks, I gained 2" of lift so I am guessing they sent me the wrong set. I am really not impressed with how stiff it rides now. I was under the impression that these spacers didn't affect the ride quality.

Added more foot lights to the rear under the seats. They look green in the picture, but they match the stock interior lights perfect.

Plan on retro fitting these ebay projectors, either that or replacing the stock lens with the lens from them.

Couldn't retrofit so I just blacked out my headlights and grill. Should look a million times better when I have the all the chrome color matched. gallery_140298_3262_2659082.jpg

Looking good. Out of curiosity what type of foam is that you used on the column behind the keys?

it came with my tonneau cover. Has come in super handy for fixing rattles under my dash and in my console too.

That's pretty cool. I've often thought about doing something like that to mine but just couldn't decide what would work the best and not look like crap.

Took some night pictures just now, for some reason it looks like my mirrors are black instead of chome. I dont mind it like that. I do plan on painting them white along with the door handles, side molding and bumpers though.

I started prepping this weekend for color matching and removing chrome. I took my side molding, bumpers and mirror covers off to drop off at the body shop to be painted tomorrow. Also removed side steps and sanded the black paint off of my grill inserts to have them painted white. Picked up a used set of black door handles to be painted so I dont habe to go without door handles. After this the only thing left chrome on my truck will be the tow hooks. I'm torn between white and black for them.

Completed my color matching tonight. I attempted to plastidip my window trim but it was too cold for it to dry properly so I took it off for now. Now I need some black wheels.

    • I installed the Auto stop eliminator on my 21 Sierra SLT shortly after I got it. They have a detailed video instruction on how, took me about 20-30 minutes to do. I was apprehensive too to start tearing apart a new truck but it was pretty easy install. Like you mentioned get some trim tools. I went to Harbor freight and picked up a set. If you can find some install videos/instructions to give you and idea for a plan of attack you should be fine.
    • If all oil manufacturers had to meet a higher standard for not just the initial filtering of the oil but that they had to improve on their formulation so that the oil cleaned the engine such as the Valvoline R&P or the new Mobil product ( assuming it works similar of course ), and the oil was changed on an interval based on good UOA data, there shouldn't be any gremlins running around like miniture rats on top of your heads to be washed down into the oil pan below 😁

    • A while back on another thread there were comments and thoughts on air filters and I know that can tend to be a bit of a hot topic because of outfits that have a vested interest in selling aftermarket air boxes fitted with the gauze type of oiled elements touting the lower air restriction. However and unfortunately I don't know where I have seen the test results in the past about the amount of dirt through a test procedure that these style of filters do pass more dirt through than a properly designed ( not some cheap Chinese knock off ) paper/synesthetic media filter can do. Lake Speed had a conversation on that topic with one of the employees at Donaldson and there seemed to be a consensus of these oiled filters falling short in the absolute percentage of dirt holdback.    Which all ties back into how good the air filter is on the engine at keeping dirt out as that is going to reflect as a contaminant introduced into the oil as well as cylinder wear even if some of that dirt does find its way out of the exhaust rather then the crank case. Put another way that one can throw the kitchen sink at filtering the oil and using a bypass system which I fully expect will do nothing but good for the oils contamination but if the air filter system isn't doing its job then its preventing the engine from reaching the best wear/lasting case scenario instead.    Now perhaps this topic is or isn't for this particular thread but Grumpy Bear or anyone else for that matter, do you have access to some scientific trust worthy testing on engine air filter types to get some proper comparison data to post up.
    • WOW, something we agreed on. I only bought at sticker twice. A 94 impala ss and an Acura intagra type r. Made money on the first. Still have the second.
