How's the 4600s?

Great so far, once I sell some of my other parts I'll order the matching rears. Definetely less harsh than stock ranchos.

Why'd you go with the 4600s over the 5100s? Aren't the 4600s going to be more harsh?

Also, with the Hankooks being p metric, will you still be able to load up you bed and not have to worry about it? I'm not talking often or a big load but the occasional "help someone move" load

4600 and 5100 are the same shock internally. The only differences are the outter paint and the snap ring for height adjustment. Also my hankooks are xl's and can handle more than enough load for what I'm going to be carrying.

How tough was it to remove the window trim? Mine is a black all terrain and I'd like to do the trim black to match. Wonder if that krylon fusion would hold up on the mirror caps and door handles? Did yours have the chrome trim on the doors too? Is this just held on with adhesive?

I'm torn really. Debating on 18's and a lift, or 22's and lowering my 4x4 truck. I'll probably never off road the thing and would've bought a 4x2 and air bagged it if I could've. Every truck here in the pacific NW seems to be 4x4 on the dealer's lots.

I was the same as you, I wanted to lift it because it was a 4x4, but I really wanted 22's. Originally went with the lift, but in the end decided to go with stock height in the front and lowred in the back. It rides a lot nicer like this.

The chrome window trim is pretty easy to get off. I used a long skinny screw driver that I bent the end into a hook shape to release the clips on the inside of window frame. Other than those clips there's only one hex screw holding each piece on. The door trim is two sided gaped on, I used fisihing line to cut it off. Then used my thumb to rub the excess tape off and goof off to remove and excess residue. If you're going to use krylon fusion I recommend using some adhesion promoter. I'm not sure how well it would hold up on the door handles.

While I love this truck, it was time to move on. Too many things bugged me about it, from the cheap fake soft leather and shifting seat to the clunky transmission, horrible ride quality (most likely from previous owner travelling gravel roads), multiple issues I've had (mode door actuator, catalytic converter, brakes, engine oil cooler lines, transmission oil cooler lines, leaking valve cover etc), interior rattles, whistle in the wind shield on the highway, and rusty frame to say a few. I won't have to listen to my v8 sound like a helicopter or constantly be trying to figure out what to replace to make my truck ride better.

Tomorrow I'm picking up a new f150 lariat crew fx4 sport. I couldn't resist the push button start, panoramic sunroof, cooled seats (can't get them in colour matched all terrain gmc), heated rear seats, massive interior space and blind spot detection. I'm going to miss my truck, I actually do think it looks better than the ford, but I want something new and unused. Plus the dealership I'm buying from provides a free life time power train warranty. I also feel the interior looks nicer in my GMC than the ford. Ford still uses a lot of hard plastic. The ride quality was far above that of any new GM I've been in so I'm looking forward to not feeling everything.

I do think I have a bit of a right to bitch though. These are my service records since I bought the truck 9 months ago. gallery_140298_3337_1082826.jpg
