2015 Max Tow Package: When Available to Order?

I just heard from my dealer. My truck is expected to be delivered to my dealer somewhere around 4/15-4/20. Silver ice metallic, double cab, LTZ, 2WD, NHT, LTZ plus pkg, coco dune, E-85, 5.3L, quad fold tonneau, Bed Rug. This truck will be our only vehicle and it will be used to tow our Lance 1995 travel trailer.

Why is GM offering a "max tow package" with the 5.3L engine? That doesn't make sense at all seeing it does not have the same capacities as the 6.2L trucks. Seems their packages may be a little misleading. The 5.3L simply can not tow/haul what the 6.2L can.

 

A 2wd double cab 5.3 NHT and a 6.2 2wd double cab NHT are separated by 500lbs towing rating. 5.3 does 11,500lbs, 6.2 does 12,000lbs. Why should it not be available? All the other NHT 5.3 vs 6.2 configurations are separated by 900lbs. All of the other NHT trucks. Double cab 4x4, crew cab short/long, 2wd/4wd. 900lbs.

I currently have a 6.2 max tow package on order since October. As of today, it has progressed to code 3400 with a TPW of 3/23/15. It has been setting at code 3000 since December. Looks like the TPW of 3/23 may very well be some of the first produced.

Ordered mine with the max package.. I've kinda been looking around and I have yet to see a 6.2 crew cab standard bed 2 wheel drive with the max package.. am I the only one? Lol

I just bought a 2015 6.2 maxtow. Love the towing mirrors. There are two more for sale in my town. Bought mine as soon as it was unloaded from the truck..
