Vacuum Leak!!

Recommended Posts

I changed out my knock sensors and intake gasket this past weekend, everything went fine until today. I have a pretty bad vacuum leak around the smog control arm that goes into the side of the intake. It just has a thin rubber gasket, at the neck of the arm going in. I sort of had to pull on it, for it to come out, even with the bolt out. It only has one bolt at the top holding it in. Any ideas on how to get it sealed up? Here is a pic:

That thing is a bastard. Should have an additional bolt on the bottom to apply even pressure.

Best advice I can give is to keep bending it until you get it going into the manifold straight. You cannot rely on the bolt to suck the pipe into the manifold and create a seal. The bolt is more of a retainer in this case.
