rim offset help please

I see so many people with so many rim ture combos. I don't understand offset etc.

I'm going to add a 1.5 or 2" leveling kit. And run 305/60/18... I want a combo that will still be flush or super close to it.

I think stock are 26mm I was looking at kmc bomb wheels xd806 with 30mm offset.

I'm 100% new to this, this is my first truck.

And help greatly appreciated

also after I add my 2.5 leveling kit do I need a alignment?

Of course. Don't mess up your tires by not getting an alignment.

For the size tire you want to run, you can use the stock wheels (18x8.5 5.5 backspace) or go with an aftermarket 18x9 5.75 backspace. I think 6.18" backspace of the wheels you mention is a bit much. You might interfere with the sway bar. I have a 305/60-18 on 5.75 backspace and it was close. But, I don't think you can clear with a 5" backspace on the other outside of the tire either. The 18 x 9 with a 5.75 backspace is just right for those tires. It's really close on both the outside and inside when the wheels are at the lock.

Check out this link to my installation of 305/60-18s. Putting 2.5" lift in doesn't get you any real clearance when you consider the suspension goes up and down when you drive. You really don't gain much in real clearance until you start to get into lifts of 4" or more. Guys try to stuff the maximum they can get into the wheel well when the truck is setting in the driveway will find out that the first little bump with the wheel turned will get you a bunch of rubbing.
