2500 vs 3500 suspension?

Recommended Posts

looking at a new truck i drive mostly unloaded so i do not want it to ride like an empty log truck.

i have test driven a 2500 denali and the suspension was firm but not to tough (i liked it) how much "worse" is the 3500? and does the off road package stiffen it up even more?

The only difference on the 3500 is the two overload springs, the main leaf spring pack is the SAME! What this means is that the spring will be the same until the truck squats 2-3in. for the overloads to make contact and at that point you will be glad to have the stiffer overloads to help out as you are loaded heavy.

Off road package does nothing but add cheap Rancho shocks which ride slightly firmer but have better rebound which means rough rail road tracks and speeds bumps are more controlled.

There is about zero price difference between the 2500-3500 making the 3500 a no brainer for me but some states have more expensive plates.

You loose the 20in. wheel option with the 3500 if you care.

The 2500 and 3500 have the exact same ride height, the 3500 is NOT taller then the 2500.

Brakes are the same.

The above is true, but I actually paid $1000.00 less for the 3500. Dealer said it was because on the 1500's and 2500's there is an advertising fee and on the 3500 there isn't. Not sure if that is true or not, but it was cheaper. Also in Minnesota tabs are around $650-$700/yr for the 1500 and 2500. my 3500 is $120 a year. I have zero need for the 3500, but with all the above being told to me it was a no brainer. Other then the fact there were zero trucks in the country that had the options I wanted without other options so I had to order it. I.e. cloth buckets, but not a z71 or with the snow plow prep package
