Help - Silverado 20" Wheel Streak Issue

Recommended Posts

Posted

I just picked up my new 2015 Silverado LTZ Standard Crew NHT on Saturday. I washed it last night (because the dealer neglected to do so prior to delivery) and noticed black streaks on the 20" chrome wheels. I assume this is some liquid residue from when the tires were mounted at the factory. It will not come off with soap and water and any amount of elbow grease.

Any advice on how to remove this? I thought about starting with bug/tar remover or maybe rubbing compound and a buffing wheel?

WD-40 should do the trick. I got an entire wheel full of plasti-dip off by spraying on wd-40, letting it sit for a few secs and wiping off.

I would just bring it into the dealership and have them clean it off, but that is just me.

I'm guessing wheel cleaner (I use TurtleWax) will do the trick though.
