Bed Covers

I'm sure many topics been covered on this. I own an Avalanche and like most Avalanche owners, we have been spoiled to the bed covers. Well, It's time for me to step up a "real" truck, Sierra 1500, and looking to get a high end cover.

So far, seems like the Diamondbacks are one of the best in the market. Any others I should consider?

Retrax

I'll never get another truck without one.

Get the aluminum one not the plastic one.

Pricey though but sharp looking, most durable, water tight and did I say sharp looking?

Search the thread under my name, I have thread on retrax with pictures from photobucket link

I am a former Avalanche owner as well. I got the gmc soft roll up tonneau. I like that it takes up essentially no space when roled up. My bed is empty 90 % of the time and when it isn't i am hauling something from one place to another. I was getting tired of removing the covers from the avh most of the time I needed to use the bed.

My Diamondback HD is by far the best cover I've had. The ability to haul on top is just something the others can't offer. It's like doubling your cargo space and with the short box it's that much more useful.

Also upgraded from an Avalanche, you're making a good choice. Lol.

I went with the fold-a-cover g4 elite with the personal caddy. Gives me ~75% of my bed when open plus enough room under the caddy that I can get 4 or 5 sheets of plywood in there if I need to. The personal caddy has essentially replaced the Avalanche's storage box things for me, but holds much more. Love it.

Side note, the caddy is much more durable than I thought it would be. I was hauling 8 huge 12-volt batteries the other day and there was an accident in front of me so I had to slam brakes. The straps tying the batteries in place busted and they all slid into the caddy. Just a few dents that can't really be seen. I thought it was going to be crushed.

I was going to buy a Fold-a-cover, but now I'm leaning toward a Peragon.

After more research, I feel the Diamondbacks are the toughest covers in the market. I like the idea of the HD, but not sure if I have that strong of a need for one. Thinking I'll take the money saved buying the SE and get the storage bins. Really going to miss that option from my Avalanche.

I saw an Avalanche concept they did on the 1500s, with the covers and storage. I'd pay the extra $$ to have it.

Are you looking for a cover for the Avalanche? I am confused.

No, I'm trading in the Avalanche for a Sierra 1500. My mind has been set on the Diamondback covers, but wanted to see what other options that are out there.

Check out what the dealer sells. I bought mine with the truck says GMC on it 14 months no leaks. Hard tri fold with soft over laid. Worked it in with my deal payed next to nothing for it.

If you're looking for a high end cover, check out Pace Edwards. I have the remote activated Pace Edwards Bedlocker. I love its low profile and the ability to stop the cover at any point instead of the predetermined spots like other covers. I would say its only downside is its price, other than that its all good!!!

Had to make my cover decision a few weeks ago and went with the diamondback se in black. Love the ability to open front and rear of cover. Plus you don't see that many around
