New to the forum so sorry if this has been answered or gets long winded...

Have an '07 Silverado WT with the 6 cyl motor, 2 wheel drive. Over the past year, very occasionally the ABS would come on at random times when applying the brakes (and at random speeds).

I read up on this issue and it sounded like a fairly common problem and the answer was to replace the speed sensors and clean the mating surfaces/grounds. My brother and I replaced both sensors with after-market parts (BWD brand) and cleaned up the surfaces where they make contact as well as any other grounds we could find.

In a sense, that made the problem better in that it became consistant. Having done that work, now the ABS kicks on every time I break at slow speed. If I am rolling up to a light or stop sign and get below 10mph it seems that ABS comes on at about 5 - 7mph. I can jam the pedal through it or release and hit it again and everything is fine.

So, in the mean time I have pulled the ABS fuse, regular braking works fine, and I'm at a loss. Do I go for replacing the control module next? Are those toner rings/encoders on each wheel possibly bad? We visually inspected them when replacing the sensors and they looked great - no cracks, missing teeth, dirt/grit/shavings. Other things to consider?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated. Thanks

You can shot gun parts at it if you like and are loaded with cash , toner rings don't go "bad" parts can "fail" but never go "bad"

You can have a shop actually start the diagnoses process buy scanning the module for codes , you did the right thing for undesirable ABS event but now you're done diagnosing it , hit a shop or leave the fuse out of your "brake" system ... Fml .....
