Am I getting a good deal?

I'm going back monday to sign and take delivery of a 2015 Sierra 1500 SLE 4x4 standard bed which I am going to lease but I want to know if I'm getting a good deal first because I wish it was specced more to my liking. It's a Double cab in white on black, with the SLE value package, leather seats, Z71 package, off road suspension package with 18" wheels, 5.3 eco tech, power sliding window, park assist, 40/20/40 heated bench, running boards, navigation, on-off road tires and 3.42 rear axel. The dealer is throwing in a free bed liner as well. The MSRP is almost 47k and the lease is going to be $450 with 2k down for 36 months, 12k miles a year It comes with 2 years of free maintenance. It has 15miles on it so it was probably test driven a few times, which I couldn't care less. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's a 5.3 and not 6.2 and it's white. I kind of want the 6.2 so should I hold out or just take this sweet deal. Does this sound too good to pass up? I came in wanting a canyon but they had no lease deals so that's why I'm going with the double cab sierra. A duramax (or slt) would be nice as well but it's probably more than 500 a month lol. My budget is around $470 a month max.

No, not a great deal. Buy what you really want.

I could get use to the white but the motor option is the only thing that is bothering me. Is the difference dramatic between the 5.3 and the 6.2? The only plus side I could think of is better fuel economy out of the 5.3

Also, is there a big difference between the SLE (with value package) and SLT?

In my opinion there is a huge difference between the 5.3 and 6.2 in power. I have friends who have both and the mileage is very close. If you want the 6.2 don't settle.

Mileage isn't much difference. Last 2 trips to lakes I got about 22 mpg at 62 mph.

6.2L is a $2495 option as it includes the 8-sp trans and only available in the SLT trim, so its going to bump up the monthly payment and the down payment.

Well take my word for it, I just traded in my 2014 5.3 for a 2015 6.2. My payment is $437 for my 6.2 crew 4x4 with $1500 down. Thats tax and everything. That is why I believe 450 for a 5.3 and an SLE is not a good deal. FWIW 39 Months is going to be a tad better deal then 36 months.

As for power, the 6.2 is very smooth and does not "feel" all that much more powerful. However after having my 6.2 for a week and driving another 2015 with the 5.3, I couldn't believe how gutless it felt. The 6.2 just moves with such ease and takes much less throttle input to get it moving.

Is it worth the $2500? Only you can decide. So far I am only about .5-1 mpg less then my 5.3, but I like fast things so for me it was the only option.

I put a deposit down but it's still refundable. My lease on my car is up on the 13th. I have to talk with the sales guy again. He made it sound like its the best deal in the world.

$52k +/...can't remember the exact amount. Only know residuals, MF and negotiations I got. Also should note in that deal they had to roll in $545 of my remaining lease payments off my 2014. So had I not owed that my payments would be ~$422.

Wow that's an amazing deal. So you did 12k miles a year, right? I know lease deals vary by state and months. Seeing that yours is a chevy, the lease deals may be different for GMCs.

No I did 10k. Difference in 12k vs. 10k is 1 point. On a 50k truck you would be right around $435 @ 39/12k. Residual @58% MF on the SLT should remain .0040. I asked for under supplier pricing and there was $1800 lease cash. Depending on where they have you negotiation wise, I see no reason you shouldn't be under $470 for a 6.2.

I traded my 13 leased sle for a 15 sle. I traded in early (8 months) and only put 1k down. I was about even on the buyout. My sticker was just over 44k. Monthly payment is 378 on a 39mo/10k lease. I think you can do better! Also get what you want now! That is why I traded early on my lease!

This is the truck in question. The buy out is 28k. The issue is that they have no 6.2s on their lot and I NEED to turn my lease in. I have other cars to drive but I'm not sure how hectic it would be for the dealer to find me a 6.2. We bought about 15 new vehicles from them for business and personal.

I love the wheels on it so much.

Wow, there are only 4 6.2 double cabs in a 50 mile radius of me. This is disappointing that they are this uncommon. If there wasn't big difference between the 2 motors, then I would not be making such a big deal about this.

Do the cooled seats actually work? They seem like a gimmick. I've never been in a vehicle with them but from what I heard, it's just fans that blow air through the seats.

    • Glad it worked for you. I tried that 1st, about 2 years ago. Didn't help. I also tried doing a hard reset (disconnecting battery for minimum of 30 minutes). Worked a couple times, but after one summer of doing it over and over, that no longer worked.  I was fairly confident it was either the compressor or a failed actuator, but I just couldn't identify which one. Had to research which actuators do what and which last numbers are associated with each.
    • Took me FIFTEEN MINUTES to find this. Isn't that a problem? On the mainstream media I can INSTANTLY find 100 articles bashing President Trump ... but when it comes to TRUTH in American corporate news & search engines, it's carefully filtered to support ONE SIDE. A Republic cannot survive like this! Incredible! Even all the AI searchers out there failed as well! ChatGPT said it needed more details on the video that I provided a DIRECT LINK to! I thought AI was the be-all, end-all?? I had to dig it up myself. This should be FRONT PAGE NEWS!!! 🤬   Here's the statement directly from our President:     Glenn Beck's reporting on the operation:   https://glennbeck.com/watch/videos/trump-just-revealed-a-massive-military-secret-that-lowered-gas-prices   In case that link doesn't work, here's the YouTube link:
    • More is cylinder deactivation. Kia-Hyundai Ive had 4. The warranty is the same 10 years 100K miles. My grandson drives the first one 05 Elantra GT. My wife drives the second one 2011 Genesis. The Genesis still performs as new and looks great. The Elantra looks rough. He’s not kind to it. The third was a Genesis coup. The fourth was a Santa Fe. Those were my daily drivers. I don’t keep them long. Kia is the same as Hyundai with the same warranty. I looked at the K-4 today. Too small, otherwise pretty good buy. Most of Hyundai and Kia’s have a performance upgrade.
    • Thanks for the point of reference
    • Great question. Answer....depends. One the volume of the crankcase, the driver that will actually be using the vehicle and the amount it uses plus the distance expected for that next trip. Couple of for instances:   Wife is going to drive Dizzy to Moline and back plus a bit around town so say 500 miles on the day. I know from years with that SUV that around town and local rural it uses about a quart in 1250 miles. But on the Interstate and her at the wheel without her anchor nagging her she'll push it and it will drop a quart in about 800 miles. Hence, around town I wait to somewhere between a quarter down to a quart down. On her trip I'd top it if it was down a few ounces and hope for the best.    Have I overfilled one? You mean by adding before it needs a full quart I assume. No, not once after finding the true fill mark.  I know the dipsticks of everything I drive and add what it needs. I learn this by doing the first oil change a quart low. Run the motor for a few minutes. Let it sit over night. Check and mark. Then add half a cup at a time making note of the place on the stick. I add through the dipstick tube with a barbeque basting bottle. Give it a few minutes to drain down and check again.    A vehicle like Dizzy that uses this much oil will take a few quarts between 3K changes. I keep one in the vehicle with the bottle and a bag. (Mindful of it's fullness) Not a big deal and never makes a mess of it. There is no such thing as "multiple quarts' in my shop for any specific oil. There will be a maximum however of the number of different oils used over the fleet.     Dizzy holds a nominal 5 quarts. So the first fill was indeed over as it actually took 4.75. My vehicles are fit with Valvomax valves so I can meter an ounce on the drain if need be. Found her mark first crack at it. Never to be repeated.    Pepper uses none between changes so I don't keep a quart in that one. Straight up 6 quarts put her dead on the full line. Check it ever fuel stop. They will surprise you when they start using.    Raven holds 3 liters or 5.44 ounces over three quarts. I add 3 quarts and 6 ounces. That gives me 5 oil changes on my orphan quart.    Lawnmower holds about 3/5 of a quart. I don't over fill it to prevent an orphan. So yea, depends.
