Service trailer brake 2015

Ever since I picked up my 2015 and used my trailer I starting getting a service trailer brake warning and trailer disconnected. I never had this problem with my previous vehicle towing the same trailer. I looked at the connector as the trailer is only a year old. That's clean. The truck connection is clean too. In order for it not to give me the warning I have to install the plug and then Velcro strap the flap door for the plug against the connector to try to hold it into place. Anybody else have this issue?

We've seen it at work. The system will set a code the dealer can read. We've changed a couple dash switches already for service trailer issues.

Hey mooseman,

We see you're getting a service trailer brake warning in your 2015 Silverado and are seeking advice on how to resolve this. While we're unable to provide any technical insight since we're not trained as technicians, we'd be happy to review this further for you. Feel free to send us a PM if you'd like to discuss things further.

Sincerely,

Eddie A.

We have a 2013 XLR 40 foot toy hauler (3 axles) and a 2015 3500 DENALI HD with integrated brakes. The truck shows an error: "trailer not connected" . We are looking for a workaround. We have consulted with GMC (turned in a complaint) and they will not fix the problem. The dealer tried other trucks - The 2014 did not show the error but all 2015 showed the same error. The third axle is outside their safety parameters according to the engineers at GMC. The truck shows this error repeatedly while traveling. They told us there is not a fix and they close our official complaint. The Dealer talked to the engineers that built the truck - no fix
