2014 Silverado Crew Cab Snugtop Snuglid

Just installed a new Snugtop Snuglid on my 2014 Silverad Crew Cab Short Box. However, there is a slight over hang on the tailgate, which I was told by the installer is caused by how the new Silverado tailgate is shaped at top. I have not seen another 2014 Silverado with a Snuglid, so I have nothing to reference. I have had 2 snuglids previously on a Ford and Dodge, and there were no issues with overhang and the Snuglid fit like a glove. Can anyone confirm this is an inherent problem/issue with the newer Silverado's because if their tailgate design, Snugtops design, or something the installer can resolve? At first glance I don't think the problem can be correct at the installer level, rather than Snugtop needs to redesign a better fit. Any thoughts from other Snugtop (2014 Siverado) owners would be appreciated.

I used to run a shop a few months back where we sold and installed snug tops. So to answer your question, yeah that slight over hang is normal if anything you want a slight overhang all around this way it won't rub off anything over time

Thank you Silvr14. My 2013 Ram 1500 quad cab had the same snugtop snuglid at it was more fitted to the tail gate with no overhang or any gap, and I never had and issue with rubbing. I realize the tailgate on the new Rams are more pronounced as compared to the new Silverados, I just thought Snugtop would correct the small issue and do a better fit. Most other manufacturers lids that I have seen on the new Silverado's don't have that problem. I love the Snugtop product and therefore have to learn to adjust until Snugtop fixes the problem.

I just installed a snuglid sl on my 15 crew/short. It appears to overhang too. Just the way the body shape is. You can see pics of mine in the main cover thread above. I googled lots of pics before ordering. All were the same.

As someone else said, yes it is normal, just nature of the beast. I've never installed snugtop, but have installed Leer and ARE, and they are the same way. They design them that way, because if the fit is too close, the lid will rub the paint.
