8-Wire trailer harness

My truck didn't come with the 8-wire trailer harness although it has the trans cooler. Has anyone ever installed the factory 8-wire harness? How difficult was it and how much did it cost? Have a part#? Thanks!

I don't know what the part number is but it should be very easy. I think you could by the harness from any parts store. I think there should be a wire loom up around the spare tire that the factory put there to use for trailer wiring, and I think you might need a fuse in the electrical center under the hood and all should be good.

My truck didnt come with a hitch or anything so before I done the deal I had them throw in a factory hitch and wiring stuff. I am pretty sure like 6 wires you can plug in into the harness hangin near the back. Then I had to run 2 wires up to the auxillary posts under the hood, one was the constant 12V and the other was the electric brake wire. Not sure what parts are involved because mine came as a package deal from GM but I remember the hardest part was getting the wires ran from the back to the front!

I purchased the GM tow package seperately and the hitch and wiring harness came together in the kit so as for a specific part # on the harness I don't know. You run the four basics and ground to above the spare tire and you run the other wires up front into your fuse center where you will plug them in per instructions in kit, it comes with a 30 AMP fuse to put in the under hood electric center I belive the two wires you run up front are 12V power and one that plugs into the gauge cluster or something like that real simple to do took me mayber 20 mins. to hook it all up.

Thanks for all the replies. Mine already had the basic wires coming from the spare tire area. I just ran the other 2 to the controller and battery, but wanted to replace those with the correct harness sometime. Thanks again!
