Engine hours!

Hey new to the forums just bought a 2012 gmc sierra sle 4x4 103k miles and it shows 6400 engine hours. If that alot of idling how bad could the motor be? It's a clean truck can you accumulate hours listening to music? Just trying to figure out if I made a mistake not seeing the high engine hours.

Possibly but it came from kingfisher Oklahoma a small town.So maybe he drove to Oklahoma city with city traffic there and a mix of idling.

If that readout is accurate, that is a lot of hours! That's probably equivalent to 40 odd hours a week, or something like that.

 

I have ~162k on my 2006 and about 3600 hours or so. I drive mostly highway.

 

The question is- does the hour meter advance only when the engine is running, or also when the key is turned to acc.? Some hour meters advance when the key is on, but the engine isn't running.

Any signs of it being used fleet/commercially? It should show up on the Carfax report. They often get started in the morning and run all day.

No it was private and carfax looked good it still has some power and rides good just odd basically 6.5k hours on it

I guess if worse comes to worse I'll just buy a drop out off eBay what year lc9 will drop in?
