Might Have to Sell

Well my wife was let go/forced to quit today, long story but she worked at a childcare facility which our 3 kids went as well and after my 1 year old son got burned twice first by someones coffee and second by a laminator and the center didn't care she reported them and was let go. I leased my 2015 Silverado LT about 3 months ago and I don't know if we will be able to afford it if she doesn't find something else. I called for a payoff on it and with my trade in I did and discounts payoff is $31900, 2015 double cab, tungsten metallic, 4x4 5.3, all star package, bed liner, do you think I'd have a problem getting rid of it for that much it only has 4500 miles on it?

Is your lease transferable? Or are you planning on looking for a dealer to buy it from you. I would think you could certainly get close to that amount. Bad situation all around, sorry to hear......

3 kids in daycare, that has to be spendy. Did her full check go into the cost of daycare, or did they not charge you since she worked there?

Sorry to hear of the issue....I'd think you'd be able to get that for the truck.

Sorry to hear... Hope she finds a new job before the truck has to go... Sending a few prayers for your family

Shitty news - but were do you live. Locally I know that you could have the labor board behind you for a wrongful dismissal. Without proper notice and warning, you can't just be let go if you're not on probation for no reason. She could be entitled to some sort of compensation if that the case of them just telling her - your done because you told on us.

In tx you can be fired/let go for no reason with no warning. Sucks.

Same in Florida

Same in Florida

same as in most states-just as employees can quit with no reason and no warning.

now, there are exceptions-no state can terminate or not hire based on race, color, age (over 40), religion, if you are pregnant, etc....but those cases can be very difficult (and expensive to prove). An exception to this would be something like you can require your hire for a ladies' room attendant job be a female.

You might have some sort of whistleblower protection here and that might be worth looking into-but I'm not a lawyer, just a dumb HR guy.

Thanks everyone, good news she applied at another childcare facility and was hired on the spot. She starts tomorrow and we will see how it goes.

Sometimes these situations can be handled by the employee using initiative to do things to correct a problem, even when the management is unwilling to address a hazard, rather than "reporting" them to an outside agency.

Wow, sorry to hear about the kids, and your wifes job. But my wife is 3 months pregnant and a center manager of a inspire development center, she hasnt told her regional manager because she is afraid of being let go, she is a federal employee, I told her if they let you go because your pregnant she will never have to work again, And there would be no more car or truck payments, there is a law somewhere that says supposed to be in this kind of situation that no issues, im sure it varies by state but might wanna get the internet and spend 20 minutes looking. But also you might take a small loss from a dealer unless you can get it in before the dealers get the 16s

Glad to hear it! Hopefully this will turn into something better in the long run than where she was at. Best of luck to you.

    • This is a 1/2 ton thing ONLY.  All HDs 2020-2026 have the two speed transfer case, with Autotrac as an option.     1/2 tons 2019-2026, regular 4x4s come with a single speed case (no 4LO!), and trucks with Z71 ordered, or all Trail Boss trucks come with the 2 speed case.  2 speed case is also an option on WT, and is also standard on High Country.
    • 2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.          That all said...   Your 7045 Napa filter is the PF63 equivalent, with 22psi bypass.  You are already using the higher bypass pressure filter.  You CAN keep using it, you don't technically have to use it though.
    • Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉
    • Probably not their first rodeo, so it should go as planned most likely.  Typically the service manager or tech doing the swap will put some seat time to shake it down after they get it all put back together.  We usually put 50-100mi before we hand them back so if something happens, its not after you get it.  A coolant leaks, oil leaks, a ground left off or loose, vibration, etc.     The new engines so far have been good?  There's been a couple that have popped out there again (the replacement engine) but most have been okay.
