Using Sta-Bil in gas tank

I use ethanol free premium and stabil when storing my power equipment and motorcycles. I used to drain the carbs too, but haven't bothered with that step in years and doesn't really apply to fuel injected vehicles anyway. If it's a tank every couple months I wouldn't bother doing anything. 3 or more and I'd use stabil.

I would recommend using automotive Sta-Bil. Todays gasoline is highly volatile and evaporates quickly. It has a shelf life of about six months. Treated with Sta-Bil it has a shelf life of about one (1) year. Make sure your tank is topped off, tires fully inflated and battery disconnected prior to storage. If you don't want to disconnect the battery, make sure to use a battery maintainer. I would also look for ethanol free gas for long term storage.

Generally, the computer in the truck will compensate for degraded fuel and adjust how the motor runs as a result. I use a fuel stabilizer for gas in cans that are stored at the house, and whenever I suspect the gas in a 2stroke or small engine is degraded, that gas goes into the truck to get burned.

Personally, I don't worry about that sort of stuff with the vehicles.
