Hello folks,

Two days ago I bought this truck for 1500 from a family friend. It's got 200k on it. The body has some damage but it runs strong. I believe it's an LT but I'm not sure. I think it has the 4.8 vortec but one again I'm not sure. The trim is super basic (fleet truck), no cd player, no cruise control, no DIC. But tbh I like the simplicity. How do you verify the trim?

BTW I am now 600 miles into a 3000 mile trip across the country and its taking it like a champ.

Work truck base model. So not LT and not a 4.8. Could be a 4.3 V6. Code for 4.8 is LR4 and 1WT is your trim

Yep - that's a 4.3.

I've seen enough of the one in our dear departed Jimmy to last me a lifetime. The engine lives on however, sans electronics, in our '89 S10 and is happier than ever. :) Great engine, galactically craptastic electronics. Looks like that truck there was a Monday truck. Our Jimmy was a Friday ... Christmas Eve truck ...

Now why the hell didn't GM orient the A/C compressor up high like that on the LS engines? :banghead:
