My AT grill light bar install

Recommended Posts

I have 3 separate wiring harnesses installed in my truck. One for the grill lights, one for the bumper light, and one for the electric exhaust cutout. All are the KAWELL wireless wiring harness on Amazon for $15. So I have 3 wireless remote controls in my center console, although I only need to use one because the exhaust cutout harness is left to on/open, the grill lights I use 2 of my Home Remotelink buttons, so just for the bumper bar I keep th remote handy.

So you can program your Home remotelink buttons in the ceiling to your lights using the wireless harness??

can you post a link to your wireless setup? Interested in doing this with my next lights i plan to add.

How did you program it? Just followed the process in the truck manual or is there some other way?

I use this:

http://www.amazon.com/Totron-Controller-Wireless-Multiple-Patterns/dp/B00UR2DIRI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1443737518&sr=8-3&keywords=totron+wiring+harness

To program it you hold the button on the remote and the button on the homelink at the same time for a few seconds. When it flashes fast its paired.

Another cool thing about this wireless switch is that you can actually tie it into your headlights so that you can:

Turn the light bar on with the remote

or

Turn the light bar on with the High beams

you can also

Shut the light bar off while the high beams are still on

Ill make a video when I have it all wired up completed. I'm waiting for some fuse taps.

How did you pull the aux power socket out

You have to take the entire bezel piece off. open the center console and then pull up on the sides of the bezel. It will pop off and you can access the power sockets from behind the bezel.

This is the piece im talking about..#2 in the picture....FYI i know this isn't the exact console but gives you a good idea of what i mean. Pull from the sides with the console open and it will pop right off. Requires a good pull.

You could do it two ways:

1. Tap into the wiring harness with either a wire tap connector or actually stripping the wire and soldering it. You would need to tap into the (+) to the highbeam. (Not sure what wire it is, you may have to do some research or explore with a voltmeter)

OR

2. Use a fuse tap to tap into the 3 pin mini fuse #59 in the fuse box under the hood.

You would then run the wire from either option 1 or 2 and connect it to the trigger of the relay (Pin 86)

I am going to use option 2 as I dont relly want to tap into the factory harness. Its a bit to invasive for my liking.

If you need anymore info let me know! I'd be happy to help!

No problem at all. If you find the switch to be a tad lose. Just throw 1 strip of electrical tape around the switch then push it in. Fits perfect. Just a tip-youmay not have to but i did. I'm kind of a perfectionist haha
