By residue you mean that clear film looking stuff left behind from the 3M tape? That's what I'm seeing when I look down at the tailgate from an angle.

Yep. Actually, after thinking/ trying to remember, toward the end of the process of completely debadging mine, I figured out that gasoline worked a lot faster, and then I used alcohol to clean the gas off.

Do you recall if you could see an outline of the emblem after you removed it.. It appears as though I can see a lighter shade of the letters.

My truck is victory red, and I debadged it within 3 days of having it new off the lot- so no, not on this one. Prior to this I bought a used 2011 Tundra that was fire red in 2014. Before that, I had a used 2007 grey Tundra that I got in 2010. I debadged both of them after the badges had been there for several years. Yes, I could see the outline a tiny bit right after I did it, but after about a week, I couldn't see it anymore. Then I waxed them and definitely couldn't tell, even in bright sun.

Thanks, mine is a 2015 Denali. Maybe it's because I haven't cleaned residue off yet...
