Thanks Mike. I found a thread on here that really goes in depth about the particulars with respect to changing out the headlights etc. My only fear is I noticed on "realtrucks" dot com. they talk about cutting open the headlight mount (i think) in order to get to the bulbs etc, then seal it back. not sure how that'll affect warranty's if anything should happen.

You will need to open the headlights since you have a Sierra. You can either bake them open or you can cut them open. I cut mine. Echavez's lights were cut open. Phil at Fastheadlights has a bracket that saves headaches when doing a retrofit. I have a thread about the work I did on my headlights

Toyed with idea of removing the dip from the wheels & going back to chrome. Since Mike won't stop letting me hear how chrome would go good with my white grille surround. What do you fellas think?

IMO, Chrome sets off the accent of all the white that is surrounding it. i.e. window molding, door molding, and fender moldings. Looks sick.

Here's a photoshop image of my truck. Had a member of this forum "vtbulldog" provide me with a pic of what my truck might look like with the "WDT" grill surround, but leave the chrome mesh grill. also, had him do the "fog light" black insert(ty) thingy...lol. Don't think it'll look to bad.

I think it looks great and would look even better if you colormatched the GMC emblem. The headlight trim also looks really good, I suggest clearing it as that would match the WDT/Chrome theme with the truck really well.

I agree, do the emblem and clear the lights or don't paint them. If you want to have a white and chrome theme then you want to leave some chrome upfront and not just the Grille imo. But thats just me

.... And by "clearing" you mean add the clear coat product over top of the White?

How about the grill and the bottom piece around the tow hooks? Or does the chrome from the headlight trim give it more of a chrome n WDT theme look? Thanks for feedback

By clearing we mean removing the orange turn signal reflectors like on my truck. Adding chrome tow hooks can be difficult, besides you already have the chrome license plate tray. You could always leave the headlight trim chrome and just paint the existing black trim white. That way you have all white in your heads with a mix of chrome.

I say leave the tow hooks black, if you ever need to use them, then its easier to make the black ones look pretty again than the chrome ones haha. Even if its not likely you'll use them, still a good idea to keep the black ones IMO. If you don't need a front license plate id get the chrome plate filler for the front end. I agree with Echavez to paint the black trim in the headlights WDT to get rid of the black. Id also say if you are doing that then you should also look into getting the tailgate handle matched also. And I had a better idea than clearing your headlights, don't just clear them, get a clear replacement lens for the turn signals. IM not a huge fan of the bare turn signal bucket, though some are. I much prefer to leave it covered as I think it makes it look more professionally done and classier.

 

as for the grille I say leave the mesh chrome at the very least. Really I think it would look good with the surround chrome too but Im just not a fan of color matched surrounds on these trucks. One thing I really liked about them when they first came out was how big and bold the grille looks. One you color match it, it just looks like the body and makes the grille look much smaller.

Question, aside from using a 3M eraser, what's the next best but FASTEST way to remove 3M tape left behind from removing a emblem or badge.

Heat gun and fingers worked well for me, followed by some alcohol to remove the residue.

By residue you mean that clear film looking stuff left behind from the 3M tape? That's what I'm seeing when I look down at the tailgate from an angle.
