Power Mirrors (Help)

Anybody ever had this issue.

When it is cooler outside and when I unlock the doors with the remote both my mirrors will adjust and way out of wack. Drivers one always out as far as it can go and the passenger out and down as far as it will go. Summer time it never happens but now that it is cooling off a bit outside they are doing it again. The position they adjust to is always the same. It is a 2011 HD2500 Duramax LTZ. Now I read somewhere that you can program your remotes to 2 different drivers so that when unlocked it will adjust seats and mirrors matching each remote but I haven't found any info on how to do this. Even so keep in mind it only does it when the outside temperature drops. Just a side note and they came with the truck it has power trailer tow mirrors on it, I bought the truck used. Which I can possibly see as a possible problem with the BCM not liking the aftermarket parts. I don't have the original heated power mirrors.

Thanks

Jeff

Aftermarket tow mirrors might be a problem if they are in fact aftermarket. Factory tow mirror kits for trucks that came with DL3 power fold mirrors (LTZ) and a replacement window switch that gets added and programmed. I'm not sure if its purpose is to eliminate the memory function or not though.

As far as setting memory, its the memory seat settings position that controls that.

On vehicles with the memory feature, the controls on the driver door are used to program and recall memory settings for the driver seat, outside mirrors, and the adjustable throttle and brake pedals, if equipped.

Storing Memory Positions

To save into memory:

  1. Adjust the driver seat, seatback recliner, both outside mirrors, and the throttle and brake pedals, if equipped.

See Power Mirrors and Adjustable Throttle and Brake Pedal for more information.

Not all mirrors and adjustable throttle and brake pedals will have the ability to save and recall their positions.

  2. Press and hold “1” until two beeps sound.
  3. Repeat for a second driver position using “2.”

To recall, press and release “1” or “2.” The vehicle must be in P (Park). A single beep will sound. The seat, outside mirrors, and adjustable throttle and brake pedals will move to the position previously stored for the identified driver.

Hmmm, that's interesting. Looks like a BCM issue, as you might have guessed.

Is that your picture? Looks like you drive an ARCA car, or something else on pavement?

Newer trucks have the outside temp sensor in the mirror, and the BCM could be looking for it and cant find it. THis can also affect the truck running in open loop longer. Something to look into. Good luck!

Well tried the seat memory, I can hold it forever and it won't beep even though I can adjust it way out, hit the button and seat goes back to where it should. The mirrors don't budge, so I am thinking it is the mirrors themselves. When I bought the truck the guy never had the factory mirrors and I know they aren't cheep, power/heated and fold away is what it came with. I wish I had a set of mirrors to plug in and test it just to make sure it's not the BCM.

DL3 is your mirror option code. It once was heated,( only when the rear glass defrost is on), power fold and adj, and turn signal, with auto Dimming. The mirrors installed are for older model most likely that do Not have a door module, which you do. This might benefit from a BCM reset or at a dealer they can activate each door module with a tester, and clear out your driver 1 and 2 issues. Good luck!

Temp thing , I think is related to the Ambient sensor in the pass side mirror, which is probably missing now.

Thanks, that gives me a good starting point. The aftermarket mirrors are only power adjustable and have the turn signals built in to them. They are not heated nor power folding or auto dimming. I like have the tow mirrors, I have searched every where and no company builds one that has all the features of the stock ones. .

If I recall, The '11 Denali tow mirrors may have all the bells and whistles . I do not know the code for it off the top of my head, but I am certain its followed by many many zeros..$$$$$$

So you wouldn't have a good set just laying in your garage collecting dust that you want to get rid of by chance???? lol
