iPhone Connectivity Issues

Hi all,

First off since I'm new, let me commend you guys on a great forum.

Here's my issue. I just got my new '15 Sierra Denali and the technology was part of the reason I chose it over the F150. I have an iPhone 5 with the latest software update. When I connect it to the truck via USB, it only sometimes will actually connect to the Intellelink system. More often than not, Pandora shows the "No internet connection. Please check the connected device" error. It also won't play music that is loaded on the phone through the Media option. I can play both Pandora and music from the phone via Bluetooth, but that doesn't allow me to browse music or change Pandora stations via the Intellelink system so as far as I'm concerned it's totally useless.

I've noticed that this seems to be a bigger problem when the phone is 100% charged. The phone keeps buzzing to indicate that it's 100% charged over and over again. It's as if that indicator is somehow interrupting the connection to Intellelink.

Has anyone else experienced a similar issue and found a solution? I'm going to try another cable, but I've already seen this happening with 2 different cables so I don't think that's the problem.

Try checking your lightning adaptor port on the phone. I had similar issues, and it turned out I had so much pocket lint inside that port that the connection was continually interrupted. I used a paper clip to clean out the port, then that resolved my connection issues. Hope this works for you.

Firstly, welcome.

Second, let's look at your issue. Please don't list things like "with the latest software update" - tell us your specific version. Keep in mind that there may be an update you don't know about, an update WE don't know about, or this might be getting read by someone that has an even newer version of the software a year from now. Specific version information can be very helpful.

With regard to the "phone keeps buzzing to indicate that it's 100% charged over and over again" comment: This is NOT a feature of the iPhone. You have either installed an app specifically to do that, or you have an issue of some sort with your cable / charging circuit. Or both.

If the phone keeps buzzing that it is charged that may point to a bad cable or flaky port. I use to get that with a charger cord that was going bad.

I connect using the USB port inside the center console next to the sd card slot. This is a truck with the bucket seats and floor console you may have the bench in which case I'm not sure of the ports configuration, but try a different port just in case.

This is what I posted in the other similar thread about ios9:

I updated to ios9 this morning and the Pandora and ability to use the phone as an ipod work fine when I connect using the USB to lightning cable.

I just installed Pandora on this phone it is version 6.4

I also used a new iTunes version to do the music sync, 12.0.3.44

Phone is an iPhone 5 16GB on Verizon

I’ve been monkeying with this for months now and I think I figured out the fix. Well not so much a fix, more a user error on our part. The trick is to launch both the app from tour phone AND from the Home screen in your truck once the phone id plugged in. When I got the truck all I had to do was plug the phone in and hit the app on the home screen, so somewhere along the way that changed. Don’t know if it was Pandora or GMC, but it changed. And the instructions on Pandora’s site [https://help.pandora.com/customer/portal/articles/190368-pandora-and-gmc] have a step to do both.

So there you go…hope this helps.
