mdeebs Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 Hey guys, I just wanted to ask some quick opinions on running boards. I ordered a set of stainless steel running boards, and when they were delivered, well what do ya know, they were the same set I ordered but in black. I thought that the stainless steel boards would match well with the chrome accents, but now I'm not sure if the black ones would look better. I know a lot of responses are just going to say to do what I like best since it's my truck, but I'm just looking for a few opinions. The picture below is my truck with the black board leaned up against it. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ikaika1984 Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 What theme are you going to be be doing with your truck.... Is your truck WDT? if so, are you leaning more towards the black, chrome or WDT? If you lean towards WDT n chrome then keep chrome finish.. If you stay more towards black n WDT then do black. IMO Sent from my SG Note 4 on Tapatalk WDT (white Diamond Tricoat) sorry Sent from my SG Note 4 on Tapatalk
Rawyzf Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 I like the black, they won't show rust or abuse like the chrome will.

I've always liked the black on white look for SUVs and trucks but then when I went with the SLT I backed off that idea due to the chrome accents. But now since the black boards are already here now I'm second (or third) guessing myself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ikaika1984 Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 I have a 15 Denali with the WDT.. IMO I wouldn't let my running boards or step be my deciding factor.. It would be my paint Sent from my SG Note 4 on Tapatalk
crewl1 Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 I have polished stainless steel on my Summit White. I plan to keep all the chrome on my truck as is so the steps go with the scheme. If you use black they will probably just disappear, unless you plan to black out some of the accents and create a different blacked out theme so then they will look like they add to the scheme. My vote is send 'em back and get the stainless you ordered originally. (Or keep them and go buy some black Plastidip )
SouthCo Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 I agree. Send them back and get what you originally ordered. They would tie in nicely with the handles, mirrors and other chrome...
dbcooper748 Posted September 17, 2015 Posted September 17, 2015 +1 on the chrome. I had the 6" oem square boards installed. Gives my truck a classy look i think. Although they do tend to make trucks look lower imo. They black are functional but also dont make it look as low as chromes
mdeebs Posted September 18, 2015 Author Posted September 18, 2015 Thanks everyone. I think I was leaning towards sending them back and getting the ones I ordered. Now comes the fun part of dealing with customer service. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Imcrazy Posted September 18, 2015 Posted September 18, 2015 Black looks cool but, I had a set of black raptors on my truck for about 18 months and I had to get new ones, upgraded to SS, because they rusted out.
mdeebs Posted September 23, 2015 Author Posted September 23, 2015 So after calling customer service, they sent the correct running boards and told me to use the same mounting brackets that they sent with the black ones. Saturday morning, the stainless steel boards were delivered and I went to install them... Of course the mounting hardware was missing a bracket and ALL of the nuts/bolts... Another argument with customer service and I got the full mounting hardware plus a $40 refund. Here is the finished product. I really like the way the stainless steel plays off the truck with the black steps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
