2012 Silverado non-Bose

Hello everyone...

Looking to upgrade the speakers in my 2012 Crew cab. In my previous truck, 2002 F15, I went with an Alpine head unit, ID 10" sub and Alpine amp to drive it, with upgraded front door speakers. Not looking to go that far with this truck (yet), just curious to upgrade the front and rear door speaker. Do you really get much better sound by upgrading just the speakers, or is more involved? I had a 2000 Trans Am with the Monsoon system, and I seemed to recall there being an issue with the OHM rating of the speakers. Is that an issue with this truck?

 

Have you upgraded just speakers and have you been satisfied? if yes,what brand did you go with?

Recently upgraded the speakers in my 10 Sierra. Changed all four door speakers to Kickers. Sounds much better than the crappy OEM speakers that worked when they wanted to work.

I also have a 2012 crew cab, non-Bose and would like to upgrade the door speakers.....you mention kickers....do you recall what model, size etc you used. Are they 3-way, ?? Does the factory amp do ok or did you add anything i.e. amp etc ?
