Whos paying for wheel balance for vibration diag?

See we have had many many post about people getting their vibrations addressed. I'm approaching 12,000miles and due for oil change #2. My vibration has been at and above 55mph and the worst at 80mph. Which I know that freeway vibes are typically balance issues. At the same time I want to make sure its not a drive shaft or diff. Vibration has been present for at least the past 3k miles that I can remember. Just haven't had time to get it in to the dealer due to family obligations.

I know that this is more than likely a wheel balance issue. I'm just curious if with all the vibration issues going on, whos paying to for their wheel balance and whos getting it done for free?

I can do the balancing my self as I'm full time service tech. But at the same time its the reason i bought a brand new truck and leased it. . . I'm over working on my own shit. I've done my dues to get to this point and don't want to service vehicles in my off time unless its necessary.

When I brought mine if for vibes about this time last year (truck was 2 months old with 1,000 miles) my local dealership re-balanced them and then took it out on the interstate to check their work and I was not charged. The re-balance did take away about 80% of the slight vibes in my steering wheel at interstate speeds. I have since rotated my tires with no ill effect. My truck still has a slight vibration as witnessed by stuff laying in the back seat shaking a little but I don't hardly feel anything in the steering wheel or gas pedal like I did before the tires were re-balanced. I don't think they road forced balanced mine because I have one rim with two big stick on weights stacked on top of each other and it is very noticeable (at least to me). That tells me the tires are pretty bad out of round or the rim is one.

I only have 3400 on mine, but the hwy vibe was not tire related. Had it RF'd twice, including 3 new tires but that did not fix it.

First off I would go into the problems section for the 14/15s and read some on the pinned vibration thread. It's not that simple. Our first 2014 Chevy DC Rally 2 with 22" in wheels went in for RF, four new tires, RF again, new driveshaft and rebuild differential and finally Two new tires again. GM settled on replacing it for us and took it back under the lemon law guidelines due to the vibrations. Now our second truck, a 2015 Sierra SLT CC with 20's is having some of the same issues - they've road forced the tires three times, changed a tire and just put in a new drive shaft. I'll be filing with the BBB again shortly. If you go this route I would start working on getting your repair attempts in now because some states you pay mileage........ Here in FL you do. I would take it in asap and start logging that you are bringing it for this problem, we got them to come down from asking us to pay 21,000 miles to 12,000 which was our first repair attempt.

Man, if my brand new truck was so bad that GM had to buy it back, I really don't think I'd make the same mistake twice and buy another one... Luckily my truck don't vibrate I guess. ..

But to the OP.. for sure have your dealer balance the wheels, no reason you should have to.

It's not buying another one - it's an MSRP for MSRP replacement. If I would have opted for a buy back I would have had to PAY them to get out of it.

Gotcha. Makes sense then.

Yeah, it sucks - now that we have the new one with only 3500 miles we'll push for a complete buy back. We started the whole process at 2400 miles. We'll see how it turns out!!!

Sorry to hear that man. We have had a few cases at my dealer of vibrations and such but most recent ones have been the suburbans..gm needs to step up and fix these trucks right, it's very frustrating for us too because there's really nothing we can do that's gonna fix his gm made these trucks

Just an FYI.... Balancing of tires is covered by warranty up to 7500 miles (under normal conditions). After that, it's considered normal maintenance in GM's eyes.....
