Doug64 Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 This is my first vehicle ever to have a nav system. It's brand new so i'm under a free trial period for OnStar. When the trial expires, will I lose the Nav capabilities, or is it seperate from OnStar?
Tattooo Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 If you have factory navigation that stays after your trial you just lose onstars navigation
Cosmic Charlie Posted October 18, 2015 Posted October 18, 2015 If you have XM Trial period - that provides the Traffic, which will expire with XM being canciled ...
Doug64 Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 I plan to transfer XM service from a portable I had in my old truck. I don't see a need for OnStar unless it is needed for other functions like Nav or Bluetooth, then that would sucker me into paying for a subscription. I'm so new to this new technology, I don't have a clue how any of it works.
Cosmic Charlie Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 If you register your own phone for use to do remote start while you have the Onstar Trial Period ... then your phone will still work for 6 years as a remote devise after your Onstar expires - you must use your phone at least once for it to activate for the 6 years for free during the trial period.
Doug64 Posted October 19, 2015 Author Posted October 19, 2015 You can start your truck with a phone? {{{mind blown}}}

Ok, so I put the app on my phone and it asks for the onstar account #. I suppose I'll need to talk to the voice in my rearview mirror to settle this?
