Seat Belt Warning Light

I just noticed this morning that my seat belt warning light does not work. I pull out of the driveway without buckling up just to check it and never got a warning of any kind. Any ideas on what to look at that would allow this to happen? I haven't even noticed if the light comes on during the diagnostic test when you turn the key on.

Thanks for any input.

Just checked and the light does not come on during the self test. Makes me think someone has jumped the contacts closed for the switch to make the light stay off. I guess I'll be checking under the seats to see electrical connections are all made.

I found my answer. Between the console and seat belt receiver there is a plug that is disconnected. This allows the driver to drive without the warning or a light to show on the dash. Now, I just have plug mine back in, if possible, without removing the seats.

That is good to hear! For my job I am off road quite a bit and a lot of situations I am having to hang my head out the window to see where to place my tires. I have had work trucks in the past that when you disconnected the seat belt wiring harness it would make the air bag light come on. My current work truck is a 2012 F 150 it lets you turn off the driver and passenger seatbelt warnings and lights which is a good thing for me.

I think that plug is also part of the airbag system as well, I was thinking the airbags are 2 stage if memory serves me right. Been awhile since I read into it but was thinking when the computer senses someone in the seat depending on weight it determines what speed to open the airbag if needed.

I just hope the bags don't go off when I plug the connectors back together.

It shouldn't, at least it didn't on an older Ford and Dodge I had for work trucks years back. Just made the air bag light go back off.
