Remote Starters

What brand and model of remote starter is good for the newer Silverados? Had my side windows tinted today and detail shop guy recommended the Valet brand by DEI. Says that is what GM uses on their new vehicles and he does the installs for a couple of local dealerships. Not sure if any one brand is the best, but I do want long long range. I had a buddy that had a 99 Chev conversion van that could transmit about 800 feet or so.

In my opinion DEI products are the best. I used to be a Sidewinder & Hornet dealer, both DEI products. I would recomend using Sidewinder, Viper or Paython to get the longest warranty although the other products are identical w/o the warranty. Yes DEI is doing the oem gm alarm now. at some, Im not sure if all (used to be code alarm). The installation is the critical thing here, not all installers are equal.

Does anybody know what it costs to buy one and have it installed? I am also thinking about getting one...I graduate college in 2 weeks and am moving home, so outside of work I will need something to do, so I have decided to volunteer with the fire dept/EMS out here...I don't want to get a call at 3 in the morning and have to jump in my truck with a cold engine and drive it hard to where ever I have to go...so I figure I can start it while im throwing on clothes...at least warm it up a little. Are there any reasons for not putting one in?

Good luck with the vol dept :thumb: Have you done any fire/ems before?

I don't usually have much of my brain together until I'm actually in my truck in the driveway at 0230. I'd like to hook a remote starter remote by relay to my pager charger. (there's a 2.5 dc output on alert)

What's the best brand of remote starter that I can actually buy--without going to some stereo store? They're kind of odd around here...

I am planning on focusing on the EMS side...I haven't done any, but have a good friend that is a paramedic that volunteers out here. That would be cool if the truck would start when the pager gets a certain code...interesting thought. Anybody have any remote starter suggestions? What are the ranges?
