Loss of bluetooth

I posted this in a old forum previously. Thought that I would try here.

I had my 2014 Sierra SLT wired to install LED aftermarket reverse lights. The shop doing the work is known for good work and I have used them prior. I had them to make electrical connection for the reverse lights and they tied into the hot wire for existing light. No ground wire was run as I planned to use the chassis as ground. The guy made the hot connection, coiled the wire (with some excess) and wire tied it to the frame for later installation of the light. Now I have no bluetooth connection via my phone , static and cut out. Any ideas or solutions,,HELP. THANKS, Ben

Sounds unrelated to the install unless they were working on something else also.

The one thing that sticks out in your post is the mention of coiled wire. Current flow through a wire will create a magnetic field around the wire. Coiling the wire increases that field. Try disconnecting the "hot wire" from the harness on the truck (in other words, undo the connections made by shop) and see if it makes any difference.

Bluetooth hardware is completely contained in the dash. There are no parts of it anywhere else. If they only removed the tail light lenses and made the connections in there, it is likely just a coincidence that it has stopped working.

A 2014 truck should still be under warranty, have you thought about getting GM to look at it? Undo the changes made for your aftermarket backup lights first just to make sure they are not the cause.

I undid the connection but the problem continues. As a matter of fact the issues increased within the last day or so. It is now connecting and disconnecting the phone from the radio during conversation. It seems as though a trip to the dealer is in order. Thanks for all input and suggestions. Ben R

Duelin, took you suggestion and tried my phone in my wife's SUV and tried her phone in my truck. Never would have thunk it, phone less than 4 months old is faulty. My wife has same phone as me, Samsung Note 5, hers work in both vehiles, mine presents problems in both cars. Here I was pointing the finger at my beloved Sierra. I should have stayed with my old flip phone that always worked, was cheaper too!!!

Thanks for all input and suggestions
