Switch out interior door lock pull

Anyone know if the door lock pull is supposed to scew off to replace with a billet pull. I tried and they don't budge. Are they not removable without removing the door panel?

I haven't tried to remove the black plastic pulls but they are on the end of a stiff wire.

You may need to remove the door panel so you can grip the wire with locking pliers to twist off the pulls.

They may have them glued on in addition to screwing them on.
