2011 1500 Rear diff questions?

Want to do my rear diff come spring, got a few questions.

 

Can anyone confirm if my rear gasket cover is reuseable? If so, just brake clean on a rag to clean the diff side mating surface? What about the gasket if I get oil on it?

 

Figured Id paint my cover while I have it off too.

Gonna use Amsoil SVG 75W90.

Get a new gasket, the old one is dried crusty paper, half will stay on the axle, half on the cover.

So I'm guessing none of your trucks have the reusable rubber gasket? I'll buy one, if I don't need it, I will mothballs it. Those cork/paper gaskets are garbage.

Just remember, just because a gasket may be reusable doesn't mean that it will be reusable after you take things apart
