Ok i need so help to trouble shoot the problem, I have a 77 k 10 350 engine 4 wheel drive , it got stuck in the mud the other day, and we out it into 4/wheel drive. Now pulled it out of 4 wheel drive and readjusted the linkage from. The shifter to the tranny as it slipped . looks like it probably needs to be replaced. Truck starts runs fine but when you start driving the power kicks down. Since I have never had this problem before my girl bran had kicked in. I am not even sure where to start looking for this problem anyone with old Chevy experience have some advice ?

Sorry girl brain. The truck starts runs to about 10 miles per hour and acts like its stuck in get or kicked down. Repeated the steps to take it out of 4 wheel drive I have checked the basic stuff but now kinda stuck

When the truck runs it gears down on its own at about 25 mph I checked the gear shift to the transfer case and the rods are bent so its not shifting into neutral not sure if that is the reason it is shifting down. Replaced the bushing on the linkage to transmission because it was shot and there was alot of play in it. But didn't resolve the problem. Does that make more sense

Truck ran fine until my husband got it stuck in the mud and we had to put it into 4 wheel drive to get it out .

check for cab sitting correct.

I had one (a 1979) that stuck in drive and throttle stuck at the same time (true story)

As it turned out, the cab moved. No straight or bent shifter is going to fix that.

thorttle kickdown sounds like a loose vacuum line to your transmission. Happens alot when hweeling.

I know this is an old thread but I'll bet the vacuum hose going to the shift solenoid got disconnected.
