Dead Battery

Hi guys (and gals!), I have a 2014 Silverado and earlier this week I had a dead battery. I replaced the battery and two days later, that one died. It's in the shop now, but any idea what is causing the death of two batteries in one week? Bad alternator?

Mine died earlier this week and had it tested by the dealer. They determined that my battery had only a small portion of the CCA needed and replaced it under warranty. I was concerned that something else was wrong, since it was only 2 ½ years old. I just got back from some errands and mine is fine.

In your case, I would suspect the alternator not charging properly or some other parasitic drain. At one point I used a Range AFM Delete device and it drained my battery completely while sitting for 5 days, as an example. Perhaps one of the Retained Accessory Power (RAP) ports not working properly. There could also be something shorting causing a drain, such as a door lock switch (had this happen to me in another truck I had). In any event, these are all dealer warranty issues. Let us know what they find.

Thanks! Dealership just called and said it was the alternator. It didn't make any noises leading me to believe it was the problem, but I'll take their word for it. If it doesn't fix the problem I'll let you guys know.

Glad they found it and it was pretty straight forward. I'm glad I had mine checked out...
