2014 silverado 4x4 30000 miles in mint cond never off road with it and used 4x4 4 times to get up a gravel driveway... here is the story..no problems with truck to this point. had a snow storm in rochester ny i was in a drive way made a path in 6 to 9 inches of snow. i backed up stopped put in drive with 4x4 on. i hit the gas the wheels spun a little bit nothing crazy,i baby the truck, and it locked up and died. tried to start,nothing..had towed to dealer..they said never saw any thing like it.. front d shaft hit the fly wheel all kinds of stuff broke starter was fryed.transfer case all of it up front. all the parts were shot..said such a big claim they have to wait to hear from GM and they may want to have a rep look at it..tow truck driver could see i didn't go crazy as in didn't rip up the snow around me.they said at the dealer the "pan protector" underneath was flawless and they can tell truck was never abused. service guy said he's stumped never seen this in 20 years and maybe a weld broke on a part thats attached in 3 places and that was the weak link.. i have no clue,I'm not a fix my self guy.rite now I'm still in shock.. any thoughts on the matter? thx…bill..

The dealership should fix it. What bothers me is the BS about having to wait to hear from GM and the possibility of sending a rep out.

ya i hear ya..he told point blank he not sure if its covered..he said evey part up front is shot..i don't remember all he said he talked fast..shaft fly wheel starter trans case all the items around the wheel..i was in a driveway 2 miles a hour..when the wheels spun I'm thinking it went to 12 miles a hour..i never hit pavement for them to catch..i don't know never been down this path with a dealer they were not very reassuring at the moment.. thx for ur thoughts…bill

Why would it not be covered? Doesn't the chevy have 3 year 36k mile bumper to bumper and then the powertrain warranty?

That does sound weird. Usually you snap an axle or CV joint. It's not the spinning that breaks parts it's the sudden traction.

yup..and when i got towed i was sitting in snow,no pavement or grass in sight.. wonder how long it takes for gm to figure it out..they had it since thursday at noon.. out of my hands for now..keep ya posted..thx…bill

I know it sucks waiting but dealer just has to make sure they are going to get payed. Im sure in the end it will all be covered If you get upset remember to get mad at gm not the dealer. I can tell you the dealer wants gm to cover everything so they get payed but they haft to make sure they get payed first. Good luck I hope you get your truck back soon.

I feel for you brother. I had a Range Rover sit in service for 30 days 2 different times. It all worked out in the end. I did get rid of it as soon as the warranty was out & really don't want anymore foreign vehicles.

It's not GM holding this up, it's the dealership. We've rebuilt/replaced engines, head gaskets on Duramax's....without blinking an eye. Never has a dollar amount been a concern. Someone at that dealership is afraid and/or doesn't know how to go about things.
