2016 MyLink IO6 module in my 2014 Silverado........Question???

I installed a new 2016 HMI IO6 into my 2014 Silverado. Not sure if too many other people have done this but I'm wandering if anybody else is having the "issues" I'm having. I know the 2016 module isn't designed to go in my 2014 so I'm expecting there to be some hiccups. Here's the question I have. When on the Nav screen, do all 2016s have this black bar on the top of the screen?

I think I've read, that if you don't get the CarPlay feature with the 2016 unit, your compass on the radio will be blank.

I got the IO6 off of eBay for $570 shipped and programmed to my VIN. If you want the Carplay to work, you will need an extra $400 in hardware. I decided against the Carplay because I prefer the factory Nav but I can always add it on later if I decide to.

Yes, the compass on the radio screen is blank but the compass in the DIC still works.

 

 

Here is what my 2016 looks like.

Mine looks like that when i touch the radio but after 15 sec (or so), it goes to the black bar at the top. I have learned that this is in fact normal. My buddies 2016 denali does the same thing. Oh well.....
