PSI Question

I have 305-45-22 Nitto Terra Grappler G2s and was wondering this also.

if someone can help me that be great. I just install some P275/60/20 nitto ridge grapplers tires. Before these i had stock size michelin’s and i had the PSI at 35 with those and those would stay at that PSI a majority of the time. However, the nittos discount put 35PSI and since then the PSI jumps crazy they went all the way to 38PSI.My question is for these tires is the 35 to low for these since they keep on going up in PSI?

Is it 35psi cold and then when driving and the tire heats up it goes to 38psi?  That is normal.  No worries.

 

Good information in the posts above.  Keep an eye on how the tire is wearing.  Adjust the pressure accordingly unless you haul or tow and then you want a little higher pressure.

yes 35 cold after driving highway miles went up especially when i was hauling some dirt bikes. i just find it weird how the PSI goes up so high compare to the Michelin’s.

Difference it tire and rolling resistance.  The Michelin's are more of an economy tire and are lighter.

interesting, i email nitto for their recommendation also. Until then do you think 35 PSI is just fine for these P tires or should i bump it to 37? sorry for so many questions and thanks again!

35psi is just fine.  No need to go higher unless you want a stiffer ride.

Tires overall pressure will depend on construction (plies) and size of the wheel. Larger wheels need stiffer sidewall tires, typically this is where the E loads come into play with 10 ply sidewalls. With a stiffer tire, you can back off on the pressure a little, but they will also take much higher pressures as they are ready to take more load than a C or D tire. Anywhere from 35-50psi is a good range for your tire, depending on comfort, loads, traction and your ability to replace them from wear. A 35psi tire will wear faster than the same tire at 42psi, but the difference is negligible in winter conditions. I daily mine at 38psi cold, up them to 50 on the back if I am carrying my ATV or pulling a trailer. My 2500 runs between 50 and 65 depending on circumstance.
