Upper Ball Joints not Seating all the Way on Zone 6.5" lift

Will someone with a Zone 6.5" lift and aluminum control arms please post a pic of your upper ball joint? Had my kit installed yesterday and the upper ball joints are not seating all the way. I am thinking they may have sent me the steering knuckles for the steel control arms even thought the box they were in was for the aluminum. Here is a pic of what the upper ball joint looks like.

Still curious if anyone else's upper ball joint looks like this with this lift. Would really appreciate it if someone could take a look or post a pic.

Bump! Let's help this brother out!

I only have a 2.5" level/lift, sorry I'm no help to you.

The taper on the ball joint is what seats in the knuckle. If the nut is on far enough to put the cotter pin in, and it is torqued, you should be fine.

Thanks for the reply. It is torqued to spec, but there isn't a cotter pin on the ball joint bolt. I watched the installation video and these truck don't seem to have cotter pins on the ball joints.

I just ran into a similar situation with my truck. All stock pieces, but I had a gap as well. I torqued them down and was able to get the cotter pins in, so I figured all is well!

You have a cotter pin in your upper ball joint? I just looked the installation video again and I don't see where there is a cotter pin in the upper ball joint.

Just to provide an update I sent an email to Zone and they responded immediately. Here is what they said:

"Thanks for choosing Zone Offroad. This is normal and ok as long as you have threads going all the way through the nut on the underside. I hope this info helps."

My factory ball joints did not have cotter pins, but the MOOG replacements all had castle nuts and cotter pins.

Sounds like you are good to go!
