Periodic noise or vibration

Hi everyone

 

Been reading all the posts about vibration issues and etc. thought I would describe my issue and get your opinion please?

 

I have a noise that comes and goes....usually highway speeds but sometimes on acceleration.

I feel it in my floor. Don't think it is the tear end but maybe? Transfer case I am thinking. We have checked fluid levels and all good.

 

Any thought?

Go on the highway and run through all the higher gears in "M" mode. Take note of the RPMs and gear number if you hear a noise.

 

Or you can just take it straight to the dealer and check your rear diff, propeller shaft, etc.

Edit: Try at speeds of 55-85 MPH if that's possible

This issue is so sporadic that it is hard to tell when it happens. Speed doesn't seem to matter. The vibration sound sounds like you drive on a rumble strip. I had a mechanic with me and he heard it but could find anything.

could be AFM kicking in.
