That's what I can't get thru my head. If stock muffler doesn't do it there has got to be a muffler out there that will give you a nice deeper tone and not the chopper, what magic is in stock muffler the rest don't have, I  just can't get it thru my head,  I really don't want to turn V4 off,, maybe get in a warranty issue,  I found a stock cat back system to experiment with and not have to cut my stock system up, I even thought about cutting the muffler open  just to see,  thanks

The factory exhaust is calibrated and designed for the motor. So by changing a muffler that is a diff design then that of stock. Your going to get diff effects it may not drone as much leaving the flapper in but it def won’t sound the same as with the flapper out and V4 off. There is no right or wrong it’s all about what you want to achieve. I can tell you this I get better MPG with V4 off lol.

Since removing my resonator, I get a slight drone in the cabin at interstate speeds whenever the truck is on cruise and starts up a hill. Some folks may not realize this until they start cruising at 75-80. Annoying but only after a couple of hours.
