Ok. I Called a local Chevy dealer and set up appointment for the 127 bulletin. They have my vin because they programmed my key FOB. They said no problem. Then for shit and giggles I emailed my purchasing dealer and referenced the bulletin. This was their response:

I reviewed the bulletin that you sent Matt yesterday and found that this bulletin does not apply to your vehicle. RPO code AVF is required and your truck is not equipped with this option. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.

Can someone decipher this for me?

Hello Charlie2500HD2016,

I’m sorry to hear the install for your camera may not be an option and understand what an inconvenience this will be when trying to hook up a trailer. I would be more than happy to research this for you on my end. If you can provide me your VIN, full contact information and mileage so I can look into this further. However, all concerns are VIN specific and handled on a case by case bases so I cannot guarantee a new outcome will be reached.

Best,

Julianne M.

New dealer Dan Vaden Chevrolet has truck and says they cannot do anything because there is an aftermarket camera and wiring different than OEM. The purchasing Dealer Rincon Chevrolet installed an after market camera and apparently changed wiring. Dan Vaden would not even discuss bulletin.

Dan Vaden now wants $150 for diagnostics before they will release the truck. Boy this is fun.

So far 2 days Ashley (GM customer service) has not returned our phone call. Truck reflash wasn't attempted because of aftermarket camera and wiring installed by purchasing dealer( Rincon Chevrolet) . Dan Vaden Chevrolet has charged $150 diagnostic fee because that found aftermarket wiring in system .They are holding truck hostage until paid. A solution needs to be found today or my experience will broadcast on Social media

OP, it sucks you are going through this. I think the dealer you purchased from screwed up, no doubt. But you knew you had an aftermarket unit and now you're mad because the second dealer wants to be paid for it's time? It's not their fault and they deserve to be paid.

Based on what you have said, you should be angry at the first dealer, not at GM, and not at the second dealer. A social media rant will gain you nothing. Fight for returning the truck to the original dealer and start over. Good luck.

No didn't know the camera was aftermarket. I had asked for all to be returned to original. Camera looked like OEM to me. I am certain DV didn't spend 1.5 hours on this before they determined it was aftermarket ? I would be willing to bet that the manual says 1.5 hours. A simple look under the truck should have been enough for an expert. They claimed they took out radio etc. We go to dealer for their expertise.

1-I am angry at first dealer for screwing it up.

2-I am angry at Chevy for making it so hard to install a backup camera. It can be done aftermarket(hmi reflash) however Chevy threatens voiding warranty if you do. They offer zero solutions. It's as simple as they do not want to offer a low cost solution for a WT. You can order the WT with a backup camera. Same radio with addition coding

3-I am angry at DV for saying it can be done then switching up and saying they can't. That will be $150.

    • I ordered the Snap On...waiting for it to come in later this week or early next week.   New front cover, new crank seal and new balancer are on. Water pump, pulley, fan, hoses, and plastics reinstalled. I can move forward knowing all my timing marks are dead on and the front engine is hopefully sealed better than it was. Take 2 with the water pump...trying high temp thread sealer on the lower bolts.   Rebuilt injector and new-new regulator is in, it looks like new. Top intake reassembled and all the bits are reconnected and snugged down.   Thinking about knock sensors again, I located both of mine and, there's your problem, Francis... The driver's side one is broke, plastic is bashed in, part of the wire is bare, and it appears to have been damaged like that for a long time. I saw the wire but didn't think anything of it. The knock sensor might not be my pulled timing issue, but it sure looks suspect. It must still be conducting, otherwise I'd expect a CEL. But perhaps with its sacred crystal inside exposed, jilted and dirty, maybe it's sending mixed signals. So I'm waiting for one of those and a new pigtail to come in. Pass side sensor looks good, except for the spark plug wire resting on it (!). The plug wires are healthy so it shouldn't be causing an issue, but I separated them and added zip ties to nearby looms to keep everything well apart.   So, I'm down to installing a knock sensor AND, oh, replacing the exhaust and cat. I actually think that's going to be fairly easy, it's all bolt-together, all new stuff from Walker is laid out on the shop floor ready to go. Hopefully have this thing on the road again for the weekend.   My luck? It will still be leaking oil, coolant, pulled timing, intermittent CEL for running rich, or it probably won't run at all -- because that's how this project has gone.   I've never worked on a vehicle so ...hurt? ...cursed? in my life. Everything has been effed with SO HARD, but I think...knock on wood...I've managed to undo all the backyard stuff and we're almost reset back to "just" an 80k mile, 30 year old Blazer.
    • Yes. You need to check out that thing, and the hub further.
    • Would this be normal or a worn CV Shaft? 51K miles 3.5" lift? Boots are intact and no visible leaks showing. Attached is a the video I took. Thanks     https://youtu.be/ZnW7PPRmjJY?feature=shared
    • If everything checks out at the MAF, then the MAF is BAD, new or not.   You don't need a signal generator to troubleshoot this. PCM needs ALL powers and ALL grounds able to light a halogen headlight bulb - if it can light the bulb bright, then the wiring is good enough to run the PCM.   Best thing you can do for yourself is spend some time here: scannerdanner.com - Check out all his YouTube videos on similar issues. If you decide to subscribe it's the best bang-for-buck ratio in the automotive world, hands-down. He's got TONS of free vids on YouTube, too.
