Backup Camera help in 2016 2500HD

Purchased new 2016 last Friday of the lot. Negotiated a back up camera in the deal to be installed this week. They just called saying that cannot be added and wanted to return the cost of the camera. i would not have purchased this vehicle at this point in time without a backup camera option as I hookup to trailers single handed a lot. Why can't a camera be hooked up to the current screen?

Just go aftermarket, its not hard to install.

But it's strange that a 2016 vehicle doesn't h ave a backup camera Standard. I thought the Feds passed a law a bit ago that requried all 2016+ vehicles to have backup camera a standard.

If you really want, you should be able to force them to take the truck back. Just depends on how hard you want to fight with them. Good luck!

Got any specs on your truck? Trim level specifically. What radio does it have?

Based on another thread he started, looks like WT trim.

Its a WT. The radio is the 7" one with on star . I did the build a truck and didn't see any other options. They did come back and say another $100.00 for a different Radio with backup camera. I had to remind the sales manager that he sweetened the deal by throwing in the backup camera and I had fulfilled my obligation to him by purchasing the truck based on options, pricing Etc. So the new radio with backup camera is ordered.

Factory wheel wells installed( shorter than expected)

Running boards installed

Floor mats installed. The floormats are carpeted and have a hole in them to attach to the floor. Problem is the floor is smooth vinyl. Is there any way to get the male part and install under the vinyl? Options?

Seems like a lot of truck without all the options. I have a short wish list of:

New tires- largest 17 tire that the truck will hold?

Thinking of plastic dipping rims black.

Seat covers as the factory ones seem sticky or do not slide easy. They have a zipper in the back. Are there direct replacements?

Crank the front end as the dealer would not .

Any thoughts or opinions appreciated

- There are companies that make a rear view camera, one of them being Rostra. Problem is I don't think anyone supports the 7" new radio yet. Also, GM does not have a factory camera accessory.

- The HD sets are cut shorter for 5th wheel installation purposes.

- Take those out...NOW. The dealer should not have even sold those to you with a vinyl floor. GM had to recall all the 2014 trucks with vinyl floors because they were sending them with floor mats. GM bought back every single set. So...my advice? You have a giant floor mat already installed in your truck, I suggest you leave it that way...

General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2014 model year Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra model vehicles when equipped with All Weather Floor Mats (RPO VAV) used with Vinyl Floor (RPO BG9). Some 2014 Chevrolet Silverado LD and GMC Sierra LD pick-up trucks were ordered and sold with the All Weather Floor Mats option (VAV) with the vinyl flooring option (BG9). All vehicles built with the vinyl flooring option do not have retention features for floor mats on the driver’s side of the vehicle. If the driver’s floor mat were to move out of position, it could interfere with the accelerator pedal travel, which could increase the risk of a crash. All vehicles equipped with the All Weather floor mats and the vinyl flooring option, are equipped with a Brake Torque Mitigation software algorithm in the Engine Control Module (ECM) that will override the accelerator input allowing the vehicle to be safely slowed or stopped by pressing firmly and steadily on the brake pedal.

Shouldn't dealer have some knowledge of options and accessories? I dealt with sales manager and service manager.

...one would think...some dealers do and some don't. Depends on if the people they hire give a sh!t.

Ok gentlemen, the saga continues. Truck went back to the dealer to install a new stereo with backup camera as in contract. I was assuming OEM. Wrong They installed an aftermarket Pioneer AVH-200 BT. Backup camera works however I lost factory functions like the USB in the console and the vehicle personalization. The back up camera does not work in the rear view mode. Only when in reverse. How doI get the USB charger to work in the console?

they are wrong. my truck came with pickup box delete. It came with all necessary wiring for the camera. all i had to do was buy a camera and harness. Then the dealer activated it. OEM screen works as it should. I would not be happy with aftermarket if I were you.

Do you have any any part numbers or details that will help me with this dealer? Thanks for your reply

bought the camera and harness from www.camera-source.com

GM released an update to activate the rear view camera. you need to check that the plug is there tho. on the drivers side by the spare tire there should be a block of plugs. one is the camera plug, and right next to it is an identical jack where you store the cover for the plug when you remove the camera

Old Chevy link stereo back in. I had them leave the camera in to fulfill their obligation. I was just tired of them telling me it couldn't be done. I have called oemsuperstore and was told yes it could be done. I have to send the hmi out and lose the use of the truck for 5 days. $100

Has anyone installed the wireless camera for IPad? This might be a better option for me as I use google map on the iPad for navigation. I have it velcrowed to the dash $169 What's your opinion

Not much done so far.

Dealership logo removed

Black bow ties

Added black toolbox

Switch hitch plastic dipped black of course

Exhaust and tailpipes and muffler stove pipe black.

Two dealers will not activate camera. They claim liability will not allow them to activate. They also said getting reflashed aftermarket will void warranty . Chevy really does not want to be customer friendly.
