4X4 Noises and feel

Yeah that's all normal. Personally I wouldn't use auto unless you have too though. A very good friend of mine works on these for a living. The only times he has had to repair the auto 4x4 is when people left it engaged all the time on highway driving. So I only use it when the roads are slushy, or when I'm offroad,and the conditions aren't bad enough for 4x4 hi. Besides when on it hurts the mpg I get anyways.

Agree. I only use 4LO on dirt road pulling a HEAVY load (firewood) up/down a steep incline and need all 4 wheels gripping to maintain lane control (keep out of the ditch). 4HI maybe once I am driving on dirt with little/no incline. AUTO only on slippery/mushy snow-covered pavement (most often in snow). Never on ice as you really don't gain anything with 4WD on ice without some snow/grit to grab (my experience). 2HI all other conditions that I drive in.
