Loud popping /banging noise while turning

I get a loud poping or banging noise when turning left or right, this doesn't happen all the time. Only when I drive for a little while. The sound seems to be coming from middle of the truck under my seat. I have recently had both front bearing assembly replaced. I am just wondering could that be a culprit here.

Year is 2006 Yukon. Please help i am considering taking it to a dealer and hold my breathe. What do you guys think it is, I have also did the re lube of steering procedure as mentioned in some forums.

Please help...

If I'm correct you have torsion bars, and they mount in the lower control arm and just about under your seat. This is just a guess but they might be shifting, try lubing the end that is under the seat area and make sure they are secure.

Thanks for the quick reply, I will check it tomorrow. Just some more information it feels like that the wheel is locking but it doesnt lock just makes the popping/banging sound. Hopefully it is not diff or tranfer case.

I checked rotation bar and everything seems to be in order I grease it as much as I can, this time I found the is actually locking up on slow speed turns.

Could it be a bad hub assembly I got it off of eBay. Just wondering could an incorrect installation or bad part will cause a wheel to lock.

Check everything under there...ball joints, inner/outer tie rods, pitman/idler arms, CV joints, torsion bar mount bushings. There are several things that can go clunk in the night. I still have a mystery clunk that I'm chasing.

(Assuming your Yukon is 4WD) I'd check the CV joints. Every time I have ever had a popping noise and it felt like the wheel was trying to lock up in a turn it was always a CV joint. May not be the case here but that's my experience. Do you notice the popping noise only when turning or is it present when traveling in a straight line over bumps?

If you still can't find it, I would also check your transfer case. I know it sounds crazy but my 96 K1500 Silverado would lock up on me sometimes and had only done it when I was turning. Turns out my transfer case is shot and was causing the truck to feel like the wheels are locking up. Easy way to see if you have transfer case issues is to put the vehicle in 4WD and roll slowly and listen to see if your hear any grinding noises. You can verify this by draining a little fluid out of the case and look for metal fragments in the fluid. Hope you get it fixed and good luck.
