Learning crank sensor

My truck has been giving me issues, so I put a new crank position sensor in it. I have read you need to re learn the new sensor for it to work right. I disconnected one battery terminal when I did it, so I made sure I turned the key for 60 seconds before starting. Ran the truck for an hour and it worked fine. That's odd isn't it? Shouldn't the new sensor have to be learned?

The truck has no way of knowing you replaced the sensor. I will probably set a code eventually. You need a tech2 to relearn the crankshaft position.

I believe you can perform a crank relearn with an efilive autocal also. I know it can be performed with auto enginuity if you have the enhanced GM package also.
